MORO

DISCUSSION 1: Who is your pick for top newsmaker of 2008?
DISCUSSIOS 2: Lending money to friends. Do you do it?
Have you ever lent money to friends? Did you ask yourself questions
like how much, for how long, under what terms?
Lending money to friends may seem a natural act of friendship and
kindness, but if it is not handled properly, it can irreparably damage the friendship.

Have you lend money to a friend? How did it work out?
DISCUSSION 3: What’s the best electronic gadget that you have bought?
The lnternational Consumer Electronics Show, the largest trade show in
the U.S.,opens this week in Las Vegas with a full slate of giant TVs and inventive gadgets, despite the pall of a recession hanging over the industry,
Technologies that have made their debut at the show over the years include
the VCR(1970),the compact disc player(1981),high-definition televisions(1998)
and Microsoft Corp,’s Xbox(2001).
What is the best electronic gadget that you have bought and how has it
helped or perhaps hindered your life?
DISCUSSION 4: Nonnative speakers can teach, too
Let’s abandon the notion that one has to master language like a native speaker
to teach it. If that were so, a native English speaker friend of mine, who
still pronounces Kamakura with the wrong accent despite living in Japan for
years, would not have been able to work as a Japanese-language instructor at a school in his home country now.
In a highly globalized world like this, English, or any language for that
matter, does not belong to native speakers alone. With hard work and high aims, anybody can learn a language and teach it, too.
Do you agree with this writer?
